X plane 11 vr vive desktop window3/6/2024 ![]() Physical Memory (total for computer): 17097613312 I tried with and without the beta in steam. X-Plane 11 in VR Tutorial: Boost the FPS performance 100%Īll the software links needed and mentioned in this tutorial, are provided in the video description. It took me several days to make this video tutorial, including weeks of research, so unfortunately I wont do a text version here on Reddit, but if you are interested you are welcome to check out the video under the link below: I hope those of you that enjoy X-Plane 11 in VR will get some use from this tutorial, if so, let me know your thoughts! In this long video tutorial going step-by-step with every tweak I made, I'm also showing off the difference with visible frame-rate. What did the trick was a lot of tweaking, both in BIOS, Windows, control panels and utilities, with external software but also with some XP11 plugins. Today, almost 1 month later, I can finally say that I play X-Plane 11 with butter smooth framerate - especially on the Oculus Rift using ASW, but also almost butter-smooth on my HTC Vive as well using Asynchronous re-projection :) Although the game runs on the Rift in 45fps and its re-projected, but it does that really well and it finally really feels like 90fps. I read most forums, I watched hours of YouTube videos about XP11 (non vr) performance and I literally tried everything. ![]() or a lot of tweaking.Īnd yes, tweaking is what can do magic to this VR title. The problem with X-Plane 11 is that the graphic rendering in this engine only uses 1 CPU core (although other things in this simulator uses the other cores), and that means my upgrade didn't make much of a difference in terms of frame rate increase.īasically, what is needed to make this simulator run smooth, is better single core performance. This way I could at least play it, but having constant Asynchronous re-projection making the controllers and moving surroundings a stuttery mess.Īfter the upgrade to a new rig, a i7 8700K 32GB DDR4 4000Mhz RAM, M.2 SSD and the same GTX 1080 Ti, I thought that the problem was over and that I would finally manage to reach those 90fps in X-Plane 11.īoy I was wrong. When I first started off X-Plane 11 on my HTC Vive, my system was a i7 4790K 16GB RAM and GTX 1080 Ti I had to lower down the Visual Quality to High, World Objects to Medium, use only slight AA and absolutely no super-sampling. ![]() No matter what PC you got, the frame rate was ridiculously bad and pending between 20-35 fps, which makes in kind of unplayable even with heavy re projection. Ever since I started with X-Plane 11 with the VR preview beta version back in late December, I've been bothered about the bad performance.
